    The Dougy Center has developed a wide range of resources for children, teens, young adults, and families who are grieving, supporters of people who are grieving, and counselors and helping professionals.     Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB)’s mission is to promote and expand the field of pet loss and grief support by providing pet family support services and resources that honor the human/animal bond.

    They also provide comprehensive training for professionals in the veterinary, mental health and pet industry fields with relevant, up-to-date and proven educational tools to advance their knowledge in offering front-line support to grieving families.

    National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is a nonprofit mental health organization whose mission is to provide “advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives,” with a focus on reducing stigma and improving the mental health system.

    NAMI offers resources such as classes and training, mental health programs and events, and a helpline to recommend non-emergency resources and solutions.

    Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) is an anti-sexual violence organization that runs the National Sexual Assault Hotline. They also carry out programs to prevent sexual violence, help survivors, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.”

    This organization offers a variety of programs and advocacy such as victim services, public education, public policy work, and consulting. RAINN offers sexual assault training programs for companies and organizations.

    National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network (NQTTCN) focuses on facilitating mental health resources for queer and trans people of color. Their services focus on “Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Arab, Middle-eastern, Asian, Pacific Islander, and mixed race, lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, transgender, two-spirit, gender non-conforming, genderqueer, and non-binary people,” and providing for the needs of mental health practitioners who are queer and trans people of color.

    Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective (BEAM)’s goal is to help remove systemic barriers Black people experience accessing mental health resources. The nonprofit does this through education, training, advocacy and the creative arts.

    Mental illness in the Black community must be addressed simultaneously with systemic issues such as “inequities in the criminal legal system, economic reform, HIV/AIDS, transphobia, homophobia, racism … and other issues that challenge the wellness of Black communities,” according to BEAM.
